Le travail n'épouvante que les âmes faibles.
Louis XIV
This was written on a wall (one of the many walls) of the RER B métro, that I took home from work tonight. It kinda stuck with me today. According to Louis, I am a border-line feeble soul. Hmph.
Yep, I am a little frightened by the work I will be completing in five weeks, but I hope that fear will push me to do my best.
It's been un peu difficile for me to balance working and spending time with Meera and Marie this week. I can only can manage to spend two hours or so with them each day...and that usually consists of our collective exhaustion: Meera and Marie, blissfully tired from exploring Paris and Myself:mentally fatigued and frustrated that I can't...or won't let myself break from my Daily Grind and party it up in Paris. Little One is leaving Saturday and Ri is leaving Monday...so atleast I have the full day Friday with them! They are staying at the Young&Happy Hostel (where Maddy and Katy stayed) in the hood, so it's a pretty convenient set-up.
Sleepy. I have been going to bed before midnight, usually around 11pm I crash. Although I haven't had communication issues at work, it is quite tiring to be attentive to my co-workers and to my research, while speaking francais. But this experience is amazing and I'm not just writing that for self-assurance. It's better than what I expected and I love having the freedom to do my work in my own way. I've never been this busy before, and I have a newfound appreciation for sleep.
This week, I just wish I had more time for my friendies. Luckily, Lena has been spending much of her in-between-class-time with the two-some and Spencer (from the 'seo; visiting Lauren) has also been sight-seeing with them during the day. Fun fact: Spencer from Geneseo/Lauren's bf, went to Bethlehem... so he knows all of us. Cheers to Spence, he has fronted two consecutive shopping trips with poise and patience (from what I was told) and has sat through a French Civ course!
Despite the fact that internship/clases are keeping Lauren/myself busy, it's pretty cool to have my sisters (Lena, Ri, and Goose) with me for those two hours.
This week has been a interesting one involving: hospitals, rule-breaking and the most delicious quinoa salad. I will delve into the stories later on this week...but right now, I know I should get some shut-eye. This post will be continued eventually...stay tuned. I have taken some pics and vids...just too tii to wait a few mins to upload them.
Geneseo guests galore: Tomorrow, Lexi will be passing through Paris and the following day, Meg& Ava (geneseo'ers) will be here.
I invite you to indulge in these tasty blogs in the meantime:
Lauren has just started writing one about her pasty obsession...http://enparisjesuis.blogspot.fr/
and Matt&Mike (Skidmore kids) have been breaking-down the complex and delicate art of the grilled cheese sandwich & egg combo: la Croque Madame...http://lacroquemadame.tumblr.com/
Je vous rassure que je vais bientôt finir cette écriture.Bonne nuit
à la prochaine, FSC.
